A single solid yellow line means that passing is not advised but you may pass, with extreme caution. A single dashed yellow line means passing is allowed. A double solid yellow line means passing is not allowed under any circumstances.

7) Mixed center line/solid yellow with broken yellow or white line. This indicates that only one side can overtake--the side with the broken line. This is often found entering curves where the view is obstructed coming from one direction, but is clear from the opposite side.

Areas of white diagonal stripes or chevrons painted on the road. These are to separate traffic lanes or to protect traffic turning right. If the area is bordered by a broken white line, you should not enter the area unless it is necessary and you can see that it is safe to do so.
